Soan Papdi/Patisha is a very popular sweet in India. It is made during the festival of Diwali, Holi and also during the festival of lights. Learn step by step how to make soan papdi.

Soan Papdi, popularly known as Patisha is a type of sweet made from flour, sugar and ghee. It is usually served during festivals like Diwali or Holi. Soan Papdi is also often gifted to friends and relatives. The sweet is quite popular in North India, especially in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Soan papdi is usually served with milk or rabri.

How To Make Holi Special Soan Papdi/Patisha Recipe

For the Mixture, keep the pan on the flame, put Ghee, White Flour/Maida, Gram Flour and mix it well. Then put some more Ghee and roast it well on a slow flame for 8-10 minutes. Then turn the flame off and transfer the roasted mixture on a big steel parat by sieving it. 

For Sugar Syrup, keep the pan on the flame, put Sugar, some Lemon Juice. Turn the flame Slow till the Jaggery gets melted. Cook it continuously and makes it thick by cooking it for 20-25 mins. Check the consistency of the Sugar Syrup by putting some drops of it in water. Cook it till it is slightly golden, then turn off the flame. 

For Son Roll, take a silicon tray or steel thali, grease some Ghee and spread the Sugar Syrup on it, cool a little, stirring occasionally. Then apply some ghee on your palms and beat well till the mixture forms threadlike flakes. Then join its corner and make a roll of it, wrap the roasted flour mixture and mix well and make the threadlike flakes. Mixing and pulling the mixture apart alternatively.

Then take a small bowl, put some chopped dry fruits and put the Sohan Roll in it and press it with your fingers and take it out from it. wrap it individually into square pieces of thin plastic sheet. Store it in an airtight container and serve. In this way, Super Delicious Son Papdi/Sohan Roll will get ready at home.

Is soan papdi and Patisa same?

Soan papdi and Patisa are both Indian desserts, but they are not the same. Soan papdi is made from flour, sugar, ghee, and nuts, while Patisa is made from flour, sugar, milk, and ghee. Soan papdi is crispy and dry, while Patisa is soft and moist.

Ingredients For Making Holi Special Soan Papdi/Patisha Recipe

  •  White Flour/Maida- 2 Bowl
  •   Gram Flour – 2 Spoon 
  •   Ghee – 3 Tbsp
  •   Dry Fruits – As Required

For Sugar Syrup:

  •   Sugar- 200 Gram/2 Bowl 
  •   Lemon Juice- 1/2 Tsp
  •   Water – 1/2 Bowl
