About Cooking With Guru
Cooking With Guru started with a simple frustration: too many recipe sites bury the actual recipe under life stories, pop-up ads, and vague instructions like "cook until done." We wanted a place where the recipe comes first — clear ingredients, real timings, and steps you can actually follow in a real kitchen.
Every recipe here is written in plain language. When we say "6 minutes," we mean 6 minutes. When a step matters — like letting dough rest or not overcrowding the pan — we tell you why, not just what. No fluff, no filler, no pretending a weeknight dinner needs a three-page backstory.
More than recipes
Alongside recipes, we build free kitchen calculators — the kind of tools we wished existed when we were scaling a recipe for guests or converting cups to grams at midnight. Pizza dough hydration, baker's percentages, ingredient conversions, recipe scaling: practical tools, free forever, no sign-up needed.
How we work
We're a small team that cooks, tests, and writes. Our recipes focus on techniques that work in home kitchens with standard equipment — no restaurant-only gadgets, no impossible-to-find ingredients. If a recipe calls for something unusual, we tell you what to substitute.
Our calculators use standard culinary math — baker's percentages, USDA nutrition data, and published density figures for ingredient conversions. When estimates are involved (like nutrition figures), we say so.
No noise
No fake "triple-tested" badges. No invented chef personas. No claims we can't stand behind. Just recipes and tools we'd recommend to a friend — because that's who we're writing for.
